Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) was born into a family of professional wrestlers on the 2nd of May, 1972. World Wrestling Entertainment. He was in the wrestling ring in the World Wrestling Entertainment (W.W.E.) Many times, he took home the Heavyweight title. Johnson made his fortune in the sport of wrestling into a profession as a film actor, starring in films such as The Mummy Returns (2001) and Tooth Fairy (2010). Other projects are The HBO show Ballers with prominent roles Fast & Furious and Jumanji franchises as well as an acting voice in the Disney film Moana. What else can we say about his birthday besides that we're grateful for someone like the one he is. Dwayne Doug Johnson more commonly called The Rock in the United States is an actor and wrestler. Johnson came from a family of wrestlers but he has built his name in the game. Johnson was born 2 May 1972 in Hayward, California. He's the son of the professional wrestling star Rocky Johnson and his mother Ata. Peter Maivia, the maternal grandfather of Johnson's mother Ata became famous within the wrestling world during the 1960s and 1970s. Johnson's early years were spent travelling as well as watching his father compete in the ring. Johnson was a football player in high school and was awarded an athletic scholarship to at the University of Miami, where the player did well. He received his bachelor in General Studies (criminology and biology) within the same year.
